| Croatia's coast is lined with more than a thousand islands. An journey of discovery is always worthwhile – especially on a sailing ship.The Adriatic coast of Croatia with its 1186 islands – 67 of which are inhabited – offers an unparalleled variety and beauty. High mountain ranges and towns steeped in history invite you to explore. The harbour towns of Split, Trogir, Dubrovnik, Sibenik and Zadar, all belonging to the world cultural heritage, with their mediaeval buildings cry out to be visited. Idyllic bays with crystal clear water make bathing difficult to resist. It is indeed so, that there are few sandy beaches, but nonetheless Croatia's coast is often described as the Caribbean of Europe. One of the best ways to discover the island world is on a sailing trip. The many islands in Croatia's seas make the sailing there very exciting. The best known and largest of the islands is Krk. The most famous beach is on Brac. The world's most imposing yachts are to be found off the coast and in the harbours of Hvar, the sun and lavender island, which could qualify as a new Saint-Tropez. One of the most attractive national parks is Krka, with its many waterfalls and known from the Winnetou films. Also for the palate Croatia has much to offer: Fish, mussels, scampi and cuttle fish or calamari, and all fresh from the sea. Those who prefer meat will enjoy the local lamb or the Dalmatian ham. You also shouldn't miss lamb with potatoes and bread baked in specific way (“under peka”). The most beautiful are the numerous islands that are the last oasis for those who yearn to experience the untouched nature, peace and beauty. Numerous beaches are not only beautiful but also diverse.
